Ag/Commercial Loan Officer

Location: Bowman

The position will be responsible for greeting members by phone, internet, or in person and assisting them with their consumer loan needs by developing appropriate lending relationships which includes the ability to conduct thorough credit investigations, obtain the necessary information to effectively make credit decisions, and communicate decisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Loan Officer is responsible for assisting the member in utilizing the consumer loan technology to efficiently process consumer loan requests, which can include collecting all necessary information in order to effectively underwrite and service the loan.
  • The Loan Officer must be able to provide sound financial guidance to borrowers while protecting the interests of Dakota West Credit Union and the borrower’s financial condition.
  • The Loan Officer is accountable for every loan they originate and in charge of the full loan cycle, including any follow up required and collection activities, and will work with the appropriate staff on all repossessions and workout situations. The Loan Officer is also responsible for consumer loans assigned to their branch location that are done via online or through other technology and will be responsible for any follow up required just as if they originated the credit.
  • The Loan Officer approves loans within their authority in accordance with Dakota West Credit Union’s Loan Policy and according to State and Federal Regulations. The Loan Officer will present loans above their approval authority to other loan officers that have the level of approval required for approval amount.  The Loan Officer must be capable, ready and willing to make sound judgments and decisions in the best interest of Dakota West Credit Union.
  • If the loan is not approved, the Loan Officer is responsible to inform the borrower.
  • The Loan Officer prepares the Loan Processor Worksheet and submits the Worksheet with the appropriate documentation to the Loan Processor Group to prepare loan documents. The Loan Officer will close the consumer loan with the borrowers and complete the loan file.
  • Responsible to grow their loan portfolio with quality loans and to grow non-interest income for the credit union, this may include spending a portion of their time outside the office seeking new loan opportunities & having ability to work flexible hours including weekends to accommodate borrowers’ schedules.
  • Responsible to cross-sell other loan products and other services of the credit union.
  • Promote the improvement of Dakota West Credit Union through quality member service, promotion of products, professionalism in conduct and diligent work ethic.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to providing exceptional member service.
  • High School diploma or equivalency.
  • Previous computer experience.
  • 1-2 years previous financial institution/member service experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of lending operational procedure and policy.
  • Previous Financial Institution Operations knowledge and skills.

Credit Analyst

Location: Watford City

The position will be responsible for analyzing credit and financial information to determine risk associated with loaning money or extension of credit. Scrutinizes financial data to establish trends and gain insight into borrowers operation, financial condition, and management capability.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inputs federal tax returns and borrower financial statements into Web Equity (or other company approved software) in a consistent and proper manner to underwrite the credit quality of all agricultural and commercial loan requests focusing on cash flow analysis and loan repayment capacity along with collateral values and LTV positions.
  • Documents all risks identified by the underwriting of the credit request.
  • Compares the results of the underwriting to industry recognized data such as RMA, NDSU, and other such industry reports.
  • Runs the risk rating model and related stress testing for all agricultural and commercial loan requests.
  • Compares projections to actual performance and adjust future projections as necessary to insure risk ratings and performance indicators are consistently utilized throughout the credit union.
  • Works with the individual loan officers to ensure loan requests are thoroughly completed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Serves as the administrator of the Web Equity software and will be the primary contact person with the vendor.
  • Prepares and runs the quarterly stress testing reports on Web Equity for the agricultural and commercial loan portfolio.
  • Annually gathers financial data on all participating lenders and supporting documentation such as resumes and work experience in accordance with NCUA guidance, conducts requisite due diligence and maintains appropriate files on each participant.
  • The Credit Analyst will work on projects and assignments related to improving the performance of the Web Equity software, risk rating models and overall agricultural/commercial loan process in general.
  • Promote the improvement of Dakota West Credit Union through quality member service, promotion of products, professionalism in conduct and diligent work ethic.

Basic Qualifications:

Loan Administrator

Location: Watford City

The Loan Administrator is responsible for planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the activities of the Loan Processing Department.  The role oversees all loan servicing functions including document preparation, loan tracking and processing, collateral management, and related imaging activities; develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and modifies as needed; ensures lending activities are conducted in accordance with established standards; trains, coordinates, supervises, and appraises Loan Processing personnel; and ensures lending services are delivered professionally and efficiently.

Primary responsibilities also include:

  • Assumes responsibility for the effective administration of lending functions. Monitors and evaluates work quality, efficiency, and productivity. Ensures completed work is of the highest quality. Provides suggestions for improved service delivery and business portfolio management. Seeks new methods to accomplish departmental tasks.
  • Assists in developing policies, procedures, and standards for Commercial Loan operations. Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure they are effective and current.
  • Provides leadership to Department personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication. Conducts staff meetings and informs personnel of policy and procedural changes. Discusses areas needing improvement and encourages employee suggestions and ideas. Ensures personnel are well trained, effective, and optimally utilized.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and with management. Keeps the Chief Lending Officer informed of area activities and of any significant problems. Completes reports, records, and other documentation as required.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring professional business relations exist with members and business professionals. Represents DWCU in contacts with business professionals and borrowers. Ensures requests, questions, and problems are courteously and professionally resolved. Ensures borrowers are appropriately informed of DWCU services, programs, and policies. Ensures the DWCU’s professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.

Education, Experience and Certification Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
